Lord Of The Sky returned to racing this time for a credible fourth in the Group 3 Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m) on July 16th, but was interestingly rated only an outside chance of success in the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) second-up.

Jumping from the gates well, jockey Damien Oliver allowed the Danerich entire to stride forward and take a position on pace; dictating terms for the classy field from the outset before mustering a typically strong turn of foot to find the line close to two lengths ahead of closest rivals Fast ‘N’ Rocking and Mahuta.

Laing told Racing Ahead he is waiting to hear from French, British and American interests in the horse as a stud prospect, and is focusing his efforts on preparing the horse for the PB Lawrence Stakes 2016.

“We haven’t heard the French or English offers, they’re having a look at his replays today,” Laing said.

“A couple of the owners have mentioned they wouldn’t mind staying a little bit of a share in him, but I don’t know if that suits the people who are buying him.

“I wouldn’t be training him overseas, so we’ll see what happens.

“All I can do is put the head down and get the horse ready for his next assignment, which is the Lawrence.”

Laing said the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) could figure as the horse’s fourth run this time, but he will gauge the validity of a run on his performance in the Lawrence Stakes.

“We’ll see how he goes in the Lawrence, but it will be slightly weaker than the Memsie. Hopefully he will just bowl to the front and have an easy time,” he said.

Lord Of The Sky has posted six wins and five minors through twenty-four career starts, since debuting to competition in the winter of 2013.

Undoubtedly finding career-best form to date through the autumn and winter of 2015, Lord Of The Sky finished fourth in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) before placing an agonizingly-close second in each of the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) and Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m) most notably.

The 2016 PB Lawrence Stakes field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday August 10th.
